Awareness Campaign on Harmful effects of Firecrackers

With increased rise in air pollution levels the need has been felt to raise public awareness regarding the harmful effect of firecrackers. In Arjun Gopal &ors Vs Union of India a writ petition was filed by the fathers of Petitioner no 1&2 who are concerned about the health of their children as they feel that due to the alarming degradation of Air Quality leading to severe Air Pollution in the city of Delhi (where the petitioners resides) the petitioners may encounter health hazards. As an outcome of the petition it has been decided that “ The union Government and all the state Government will give wide publicity both in print and electronic media to the ill effects of fireworks and advise people accordingly. We also direct the Teacher/Lecturers/Assistant Professors/Professors of the schools and colleges to educate the students about the ill effects of the fireworks”.

In pursuance of the letter received by the Joint Director (Admin) Higher and Technical Education, Govt of Mizoram, the institute has prepared a short video clip to raise awareness for the public in general and the students in particular.
1) The Video clip has been made in the vernacular to enhance understanding and promote general public awareness
2) It has been disseminated to all student groups
3) It has been uploaded in the college website
