Govt. Zirtiri Residential Science College is a multi-faculty co-educational college with three undergraduate streams viz. Science, Home Science and Computer Science. The college is affiliated to Mizoram University and is registered under 2(f) & 12-B of the UGC Act. The college has been converted into its present form in the year 2000 from the erstwhile Government Zirtiri Women’s College (established in 1.8.1980) by amalgamating the existing Home Science Department with science faculties from other government colleges of the state. The permanent campus at Durtlang has been occupied since 2022. The college has undergone its third cycle of accreditation from NAAC and has been awarded grade A with CGPA 3.09. It has also completed its first cycle of External Academic and Administrative Audit conducted by Higher & Technical Education and has attained 71.6% with aggregate institutional points of 1074.
Our college proudly participated in the NIRF 2025 (National Institutional Ranking Framework) and achieved a commendable position in the rank band of 200–300 among higher educational institutions in India. Notably, our institution is the only government college in the state to have secured a position in this rank band, marking a significant milestone in our journey toward excellence. With thousands of institutions across the country participating in NIRF 2025, being placed within this rank band positions our college among the top-performing institutions, approximately within the top 15–20% of ranked colleges nationwide. This achievement reflects our continuous commitment to academic excellence, quality teaching, research development, and holistic growth. It stands as a testament to the dedicated efforts of our faculty, students, and administration, and inspires us to strive for even higher rankings in the future.
