National Science Day 2025 Video Making CompetitionDate: 28th February 2025
Organized by: Mizoram Science, Technology & Innovation Council (MISTIC)
Theme: Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat
As part of the National Science Day 2025 celebrations, the Mizoram Science, Technology & Innovation Council (MISTIC) organized a Video Making Competition to encourage students to explore and present scientific themes creatively. Participants from various institutions showcased their talent and knowledge through innovative video presentations.
From Govt. Zirtiri Residential Science College, multiple teams secured prestigious positions:
The Department of Computer Science team won the 2nd Prize in the college category for their video on the theme Traditional Knowledge in Agriculture. They received a certificate of appreciation and a cash prize of Rs. 7000 in recognition of their excellent work.
The Campus Chronicles team won the 3rd Prize in the college category for their video on the theme Traditional Knowledge in Agriculture. They received a certificate of appreciation and a cash prize of Rs. 5000 in recognition of their excellent work.
Vanlalhriata, Vanmalsawma & Naom Sairengpuii, representing the College, earned a Consolation prize for their outstanding effort in the competition. They were awarded a certificate of appreciation for their participation.
The event was organized and supported by MISTIC, DST (Govt. of Mizoram), and the National Council for Science & Technology Communication, DST (Govt. of India, New Delhi). The competition served as a platform for students to enhance their scientific communication skills and promote awareness of traditional knowledge in agriculture and other important themes.
This achievement highlights the college's commitment to academic excellence and innovation. Congratulations to all the winners and participants! -
PROFICIENCY AWARD DISTRIBUTION CUM NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY SEMINARThe Department of Chemistry, Govt. Zirtiri Residential Science College, organized the Proficiency Award Distribution cum National Science Day Seminar on March 4, 2025, at the Chemistry Core Room.
The event began with Dr. Zonunthari, HOD, as the Chairperson. Dr. Lalsaimawia Sailo distributed the Proficiency Awards, followed by an inspiring speech from Dr. Zirlianngura, Principal, GZRSC.
The second session featured a seminar by Dr. Lalhmingliana Hnamte, who highlighted the role of science in society. Dr. K.B. Singh concluded with a Vote of Thanks. -
Celebration of National Science Day 2025The National Science Day 2025 was celebrated at Govt. Zirtiri Residential Science College. The event was jointly organized by the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Zoology to promote scientific awareness and encourage student engagement.
Chairman of the Event:Mr. L.B. Singh, HoD of Mathematics, presided over the program as the Chairman, highlighting the significance of National Science Day.

Seminar: Basic Tips to Crack Competitive ExamsThe Department of Biochemistry, in collaboration with IQAC, Govt. Zirtiri Residential Science College, organized a seminar on “Basic Tips to Crack Competitive Exams” exclusively for Biochemistry students. The event was held on March 5, 2025, at 2:30 PM in Block 3, Room No. 003.
The resource person for the seminar was Zomuanpuii (MPS), who shared valuable insights and strategies to help students prepare effectively for competitive exams. -
Celebration of International Women’s Day 2025 CelebrationThe Women’s Studies, Legal Cell, and the Department of Home Science of Govt. Zirtiri Residential Science College organized a program to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 5, 2025. The event was held under the theme “Accelerate Action”, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment.
The resource person for the event was Dr. Maria Lalrinmawii from Mizoram Law College, who delivered an insightful session highlighting the legal aspects and challenges faced by women. Her talk inspired attendees to take proactive steps toward social change and empowerment.
