Aizawl, 25th August 2026: The students of Govt. Zirtiri Residential Science College 1st sem BCA went for an educational field trip to the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), popularly known as Aizawl Ven Buk, located at Treasury Square.
The visit was organized to understand the functioning of the Smart City Mission in Mizoram. At the centre, the officials warmly welcomed us and gave us a detailed briefing about the purpose and work of ICCC.

- Inform us all about the work in detail technically and interact with the students by answering their questions .
The officer explained that ICCC was inaugurated on 1st April, 2023 and is now ranked among the top 3 ICCCs in India. Its main purpose is to monitor crime, traffic violations, vehicular movements, and disaster management activities in Aizawl. cb57a881
During the tour, we were shown their main facilities:
1. *Control Room with Large Video Wall:* Live surveillance from 76 key locations in Aizawl.
2. *CCTV Network:* A total of 276 cameras including 237 standard cameras and 39 advanced Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) cameras that can zoom in clearly to identify individuals.
3. *Advanced Technology:* Facial Recognition system at 5 critical locations and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system to detect traffic violations.
4. *Public Services:* Variable Message Displays (VMDs) for public information and free Wi-Fi services at 15 locations. cb57
The official also told us that the system has helped identify nearly 600 cases since its implementation and helps in verifying fake
news circulated on social media. cb57
The visit was very informative and eye-opening. We learned how technology is being used to ensure public safety and maintain order in the city. The programme ended with a vote of thanks to the ICCC staff.
It was a memorable and knowledgeable experience for all the students.
